Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 release DELAY as Season 1 end date is reportedly pushed back

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 delayed?

That's according to data miners, who have spotted changes made to the Fortnite Calendar API, something that has become like an early warning sign. This would mean another delay for Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2, which was originally expected to start in late 2019. And if this latest information proves correct, Chapter 2 Season 1 might not end until later in February.

The good news is that the change would only mean a rollback of two-weeks, rather than the long delay that was announced in December.

But this has already become one of the longest seasons in Fortnite Battle Royale and it wouldn't be surprising to hear that fans are becoming restless.

And Fire Monkey, the Twitter account that posted the news online, suggests that while this change can be found internally, it doesn't mean that Epic Games has changed its plans.

"This isn't confirmation of the season being extended, however, it looks likely as the displayed end date is usually what Epic Games goes off of," a message from the Fire Monkey account reads.

"Previous posts about the season being extended from others was based off the API end date, not the displayed end date."

There seems a good chance that Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 won't start until Thursday, February 20, 2020, based on what has been found.

And that has led to renewed speculation among fans on why this is happening on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Switch and Mobile.

Some fans believe Epic Games is planning something big for the start of Season 2, while others think differently.

One user posted online: "All the delays and lack of content makes me think they have pulled a lot of people off Fortnite BR and onto something like a new mode or something else major they have coming up later this year.

"I know it's not that Epic downsized because they upsized recently, with adding new areas to their NC complex and hiring 2,000 more people - according to a news story I read a couple months ago."

There have been rumours of something big in the works for some time, and some fans have pointed out the changes that have been announced for Fortnite Save the World.

This is the original game launched by Epic Games before the Battle Royale fever took over the gaming scene.

And it just so happens that it is supposed to be going free-to-play in the future. Epic Games hasn't provided a timeline to expect this change, but if the development team are working on something, it could have something to do with this transition.

The first step to finding out will be Epic Games announcing its plans to extend the end date of Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1 in the coming weeks.
